The rock band Kiss had a lot of fans in Mexico back in the '70s and '80s.When I was child,I liked a lot their visual concept but I never could take their music seriously —it's hard when in a moment you see Gene Simmons as a badass fire-breathing demon and in the next moment you see him singing «doo-doo-doo-doo...» in 'I Was Made For Loving You'.
Anyways,I drew this cartoon per request of some older friends (fans of the band,of course) around the last week of April of 1999 —that's when Kiss visited Mexico City during their Psycho Circus tour.
A cocol —also known as torito— is a type of traditional Mexican bread made only with flour,milk and eggs.Now,voice actor and comedian Jorge "El Tata" Arvizu used to dress himself as a decrepit and grumpy old man whom used to shout the catchphrase «¡Quiero mi cocol!» (I crave my cocol!).The catchphrase became very popular for poking fun on old people.
The other 4 characters in the lower corner are Chiss,a comic book parody of Kiss from the '80s.The Chiss name is a pun,as «chis» (pronounced as 'cheese') is Mexican slang for piss,and the characters literally had to urinate in order of activating their superpowers and transforming themselves into alternate versions of the Kiss characters.

La banda Kiss tuvo un montón de fans en México en los 70's y 80's.Cuando era niño,me gustaba mucho su concepto visual pero nunca pude tomar en serio su música —es difícil cuando en un momento ves a Gene Simmons como un demonio malote y escupe-fuego,y al momento siguiente se le ve cantando «du-du-du-du...» en 'I Was Made For Loving You'.
Como sea,dibujé esté cartón a petición de algunos amigos mayores (fans de la banda,por supuesto) alrededor de la última semana de abril de 1999 —que fue cuando Kiss visitó la Ciudad de México durante la gira Psycho Circus.
Un cocol —también conocido como torito— es un tipo de pan tradicional mexicano hecho únicamente con harina,leche y huevos.Ahora bien,el doblajero y comediante Jorge "El Tata" Arvizu solía disfrazarse como un viejo decrépito y gruñón que acostumbraba gritar la frase de «¡Quiero mi cocol!».Dicha frase se volvió muy popular para hacerle burla a la gente mayor de edad.
Los otros 4 personajes en la esquina inferior son Chiss,una parodia en comic de Kiss de los 80's.El nombre de Chiss tiene un doble sentido con «chis»,que es un slang mexicano para decir pis,y viene del hecho de que los personajes literalmente tenían que orinarse primero para activar sus superpoderes y transformarse así en versiones alternas de los personajes de Kiss.
